Instalcom (part of OCU Group Ltd) is a civil engineering and utilities contractor with multi-disciplined operations within the Power, Water, Telecoms, Rail and Oil & Gas sectors, with a geographical coverage across London and Southern England, with our Head Office located in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The company undertakes the planning, design, supply, installation and commissioning of utility infrastructure networks for the likes of National Grid, SSEN, WPD, UKPN, Openreach, Cityfibre and Network Rail.
Due to the continued growth of the business, Instalcom are currently looking for an experienced Bid Manager to join their Business Development & Work Winning Team in Borehamwood, to be responsible for the collation of high quality, attractive and opportunity specific PQQ and ITT response submissions, to include compliance with the company Work Winning Procedure and Bid No Bid process to ensure we remain focused on bids of strategic importance. This is a key role which has a varied range of responsibilities that would suit a dynamic, enthusiastic and creative individual, that thrives on challenges and is comfortable working under their own initiative, whilst also as part of a team to meet strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Responsibility for client and e-procurement portals to track, monitor, download and circulate opportunity updates, Prequalification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Invitations to Tender (ITT) documentation.
Compliance with Work Winning Procedure, Bid No Bid and Permission to Pursue requirements in seeking approvals to proceed from the Managing Director.
Bid Launch meetings for framework and major project opportunities.
Creation of Question Response Tracker (Responsibility Matrix) for framework and major project opportunities at PQQ and ITT stage and Bid Management Programme. Identifying Bid Strategies and Storyboarding to create compelling Value Propositions.
Bid writing and collation of SHEQ and Technical response documents and supporting Appendices in collaboration with individuals from the Project Management Office (PMO), Design and Engineering and SHEQ functions, and with input from key Operational personnel.
Bid co-ordination tasks to include internal Bid Progress Review meetings, liaison with selected Design and Supply Chain partners and co-ordination of Tender Adjudication meetings with the Head of Estimating.
Collation of completed SHEQ and Technical responses for Red Review and final amendments for submission.
Upload and submission of completed PQQ and ITTs via client / e-procurement portals.
Complete Post Tender Presentation slides and attend client meetings to promote Instalcom offering.
Create new and update PQQ/ITT supporting documents i.e. Capability Statements, Case Studies and CVs.
Preferable qualification in civil or electrical engineering.
Experience and knowledge gained within construction industry and ideally utilities sector.
Understanding of regulatory businesses and strict obligation requirements set by Regulators i.e. Ofgem.
Project / Department Competence Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in bid management/writing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Team leadership capabilities.
Confident public speaker.
Proven ability in use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio or similar
Competent in use of social media to support brand promotion.
Membership of Association of Proposals Management Professionals (APMP) or similar
