Instalcom are looking for a Project Planner to join our team, the purpose of the role is:

  • Evaluation of Project tender documents in order to build detailed programmes specifying cost, time and resource requirements (NEC or other)
  • Liaise with members of tender teams during the tender process as required and co-ordinate their input into planning matters
  • Development of tender programmes into construction programmes
  • Production of programmes throughout the duration of Projects
  • Implement change control process must include early warnings, compensations events and project managers instructions as and when required. Report back to the business the effects the aforementioned early warnings and project managers instructions may have had on the approved programme
  • Co-ordination of input into the programme from the construction team and take the ‘lead’ on programme development
  • Review construction progress with input from the construction team, update programmes and produce reports as necessary
  • Earned value / Project reporting encompassing resource & cost loading with associated CPI & SPI reporting
  • Highlight areas of concern with regard to construction progress and review mitigation measures with the construction team
  • Assist the Project Manager as directed with planning related matters
  • Attend meetings as required with Project Teams and Clients
  • Liaise with Client’s Planners and Project Managers as required
  • Attend site regularly (if not based on site) to assist teams with planning matters
  • Collation of progress information & production of progress reporting as required
  • Ensure planning techniques across the Company are adhered to
  • Management and supervision of other Planners as directed by the Senior Planner / Planning Managers.

 Key job responsibilities:

  • Ensure that programme findings / issues are communicated to the project team efficiently so as to expedite corrective measures
  • Ensure that project plans are produced, reviewed and updated on a regular basis and their requirements are communicated and understood by all project personnel and any other who may be affected
  • Review, maintain, update programmes being aware of Clients standards and deliverables, the understanding that these must be met within time and cost constraints
  • Ensure that all risks are identified, and that programmes are developed in light of these risks with associated Compensation Events and Early Warnings listed
  • Identify and recommend necessary corrective measures where personnel are involved in high risk activities which may lead to programme slippages and / or cost implications
  • Ensure that all documentation has been reviewed prior to the development of programmes, and all associated drawings are analysed prior to the sequencing of works
  • Encourage and motivate team members to strive towards efficiency and improve performance
  • Review completed programmes and make recommendations for improvements from lessons learnt
  • Demonstrate commitment
  • Working under the direction, guidance and training of the planning manager.

Candidate Specification:

  • Working knowledge of the construction and utilities industries and civil engineering construction technology
  • Appreciation of contract documentation including common forms of contract, specifications, drawings, delivery constraints, Bills of Quantities and or Activity Schedules
  • Proficient in the use of computers and various types of computer software used in the construction industry
  • Analytical approach to assessing planning construction activities in logical sequences and linking of activities within programmes to identify critical paths
  • Ability to carry out regular checks on progress achieved on site and record resources used and compile as built programmes
  • Communication of ‘as built’ information to Estimating Team to influence the compilation of future tenders.

The remuneration package for this position is competitive and will depend on the skills/ experience of the candidate.
